We put out a number of different streams in different encodings to try and strike the right balance of quality vs data consumption. For platforms that support it there is a 128k aac and opus stream all the way down to a 8k opus stream (sorry Apple users, currently there is no streaming support for the ultra low bitrate codecs in streaming containers). The audio input settings are set to maximize the quality feeding the individual codecs so some streams are mono and or have reduced sample rate to improve quality by not trying to have the codec encode more frequencies or channels then absolutely necessary.
Sorry no embeds on this page no https streaming currently, all links are direct choose the source stream, not all streams will work on all platforms and browsers. For example Safari (Mac/IOS) only supports Opus in a CAF container which is NOT streamable. Chrome, Edge, Firefox from within the last couple years should support all of these, VLC appears to choke http streamed on Opus and likely so does winamp.
